Advantages Of Color Powder Compared With Masterbatch

Will you choose the masterbatch when faced with the choice of masterbatch? When Fujian Xuyi Plastic Masterbatch Co., Ltd. produces masterbatch in the masterbatch factory, it selects the same resin as the resin to be colored as the carrier, adds high-concentration pigments (dyes), and under the action of additives, it is heated, plasticized, mixed, extruded and granulated to make a dye specifically suitable for this type of resin, which is called a special masterbatch.

Compared with color powder coloring, masterbatch coloring has the following obvious advantages:

1) It improves the environmental pollution problem caused by the flying of color powder, and it is easy to change colors during use. There is no need to specially clean the extruder hopper, which is very convenient.

2) It is highly targeted and the color matching is correct. Since the masterbatch manufacturing factory has reasonably selected pigments (dyes), additives, processing equipment, and processing technology according to the performance of the applicable resin during the manufacturing process, the color difference caused by different batches of color powder in the production process is corrected and supplemented in time, and then inspected before leaving the factory. Therefore, it can ensure that the colors of the same brand of masterbatch remain relatively stable between the previous and next batches.

3) Compared with batch resin dry dyeing and granulation before plastic parts, the use of masterbatch can reduce the aging of resin performance caused by secondary processing of plastic products, which is beneficial to the improvement of the service life of plastic products.

The advantage of using masterbatch is that during the processing, the pigment is fully mixed with the carrier resin under the action of the additive. When used, it is placed in the resin to be processed in a certain proportion, and the masterbatch quickly enters the role and recognizes the resin as "relatives". Affinity-compatibility is obviously better than color powder coloring, so it is more comprehensible for manufacturers of film and spinning products.

Of course, masterbatch coloring also has its limitations. Due to the small amount of addition, the processing time of plastic products is short, and the extruder screw aspect ratio is limited, the dispersion of masterbatch is often not as good as that of color powder. With one more manufacturing process, the dyeing cost must be higher than that of color powder coloring. When there is a difference in the performance of the carrier in the masterbatch and the resin to be colored, undispersed points, color spots, and patterns often appear on the surface of plastic products. Therefore, the use of masterbatch is limited by its compatibility and dispersibility.
